How are they going to deal with this?

Injuries are mounting for the Pittsburgh Penguins - and while the most important injuries are seemingly to Kris Letang and Matt Murray, the latest injury to Chad Ruhwedel may be the hardest one to digest for this depleted team.

They are currently without the aforementioned three players, as well as Justin Schultz and Bryan Rust.

Ruhwedel becomes the last right-handed defenseman to succumb to injury, meaning they have no regular defenseman left who can shoot on the right side.

“It’s unlucky,” defenseman Olli Maatta said, reported by Sam Werner of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “It’s not an ideal situation to have, but it happens. We’ve just got to move forward. We’ve got to have the next guys stepping up.”

“It seems like we’re having a hard time finding righties, and so when the three righties we have are all hurt at the same time, obviously it presents a challenge for us,” Sullivan added. “It’s nothing that we haven’t dealt with in the past, and we’ll deal with it again.”

The injuries have forced Matt Hunwick and Jamie Oleksiak to the right side, as well as the call-up of Frank Corrado to fill the last spot.

The Penguins sit 3 points out of a playoff position, having played one more game than the teams currently in a wildcard position, so they have a bit of ground to make up. It will be no easy task with this handful of injuries.
