Report: Penguins call up one of the AHL's leading scorers.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have been forced to make a call up due to the injury to forward Chris Kunitz, but this will be no ordinary replacement.

According to a report from the Penguins official website with Kunitz headed to injured reserve, the call up will be American Hockey League standout, and former Penguins third round pick, Jake Guentzel.

Guentzel is currently tied for third among all AHL scorers with seven goals and ten assists through just sixteen games, that's over a point a game albeit in the AHL. The Penguins drafted him in 2013 and since then Guentzel has completed his program at the University of Nebraska but has yet to compete in the National Hockey League.

At 5'11 and 180lbs he is on the smaller side for an NHL player, but when you consider that he produced fourteen points in 10 AHL playoff games last season, this is one NHL prospect fans should be very, very interested in.
