The Pittsburgh Penguins have won the Stanley Cup and now all the stories are starting to come out of the locker room. First it was announced that veteran forward Matt Cullen played through multiple games with a broken toe, and now we have an unbelievable story about defenseman Kris Letang.

According to a report from Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports Penguins defenseman Kris Letang, who had an incredible postseason performance, and was integral to the Penguins success, reportedly underwent surgery just prior to Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. According to Lavoie Letang suffered an infection under one of his feet, and it was a serious enough infection that it required surgery to correct.

This would explain Letang's absence during some of the media availability, and puts his already incredible performance in the finals in an even more favorable light.
