The Pittsburgh Penguins don't have the start of the season that is expected from defending Stanley Cup champions. After losing the first game 5-4 in overtime to the St. Louis Blues, the Pens were humiliated by the Chicago Blackhawks, who won 10-1 on Thursday night. Ever since, bad comments are being heard and the Penguins GM Jim Rutherford has had enough.

In an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Rutherford noted a few things to respond to fans' chatter.

“The fact of the matter is, we lost at home to St. Louis last year and we lost in Chicago last year. We’re one point ahead of where we were a year ago.”

An we all remember how the year ended for Pittsburgh. So, it is too early to say that the Pens are not going to three-peat this summer.

“We didn’t come with the same intensity and the will to play the game the right way,” Rutherford said. “That’s what we have to get back to.”

Positive words from the GM and his team, who are looking to get back on the right side of things, starting tonight as they face their Cup rivals, the Nashville Predators. Let's hope for Pens fans they right the ship sooner than later.
