Report: Really bad signs for Red Wings veteran Niklas Kronwall.

Since his return to the line up Niklas Kronwall's performance has been less than stellar, and a segment of the Detroit Red Wings fan base have openly called for his retirement from the sport.

On Monday the bad news for Kronwall continued, with the Red Wings reporting that he would not play on Tuesday and that furthermore the team was giving him several days break, presumably to nurse his ongoing knee problems.

The announcement has drawn more vitriol from the Red Wings fan base, although it has to be noted that a large segment of fans continue to support Kronwall as well. The problem of course is there are no signs of Kronwall improving, with he himself admitting that the knee injury will never truly be 100%, likely meaning that there will be more and more days like this for Kronwall in the future.

It's unclear what the Red Wings or Kronwall plan to do in the immediate future, but this is certainly a story we will be tracking.
