Tomas Tatar’s World Cup of Hockey outing with Team Europe has certainly helped his cause. While he averaged only 14:21 of ice-time under new head coach Jeff Blashill last season, that number will most likely increase thanks to Tatar’s standout performances in Toronto.

ESPN’s Craig Custance made an interesting point about the clogged and oversaturated forward lines of the Detroit Red Wings. It’s clear that this team needs to improve defensively first and foremost, and Tatar could therefore serve as an interesting piece of trade bait thanks to his increased value.

The diminutive winger has received praises from practically everybody, from Team Europe head coach Ralph Krueger to Boston Bruins’ hulking defenseman Zdeno Chara, who called Tatar “always hungry”.
