The Columbus Blue Jackets have been one of the big surprises of this National Hockey League season and there moves are getting a lot more scrutiny as a result.

On Friday the Blue Jackets announced a significant deal signing Russian forward Vitaly Abramov, their third round draft pick (65th overall) in the 2016 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

The deal is almost certainly a result of Abramov's incredible performance in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he has a very impressive 23 goals and 22 assists for 45 points in just 32 games.

The knock against Abramov has been his size, but it appears he has shown enough skill to earn himself an NHL contract.
