A class move from the organization.

The passing of National Hockey League legend Gordie Howe struck many hockey fans a big emotional blow this year, and it's unlikely any fan base was hit harder than the one in Detroit where Hower had so long been a revered icon of the sport.
As a result it should come as little surprise that the Detroit Red Wings have announced that the will be honoring the former NHL great with a commemorative patch to be worn on their NHL jersey's this season.
It's nothing elaborate or over the top, just a simple patch that will feature Gordie's number nine, and it will be worn on the front of the jersey. It's noticeable but it doesn't dominate the jersey. A fitting tribute to a man who, while he as mean as any other on the ice, was always a man who demonstrated tremendous of class and grace off the ice.
