Toronto Maple Leafs veteran defenseman Ron Hainsey is playing some great hockey since the start of the season. The 36-year old defenseman has already registered 12 points in 28 games, and he has a defensive differential of plus seven. At this pace, he could finish the year with 35 points, which would be the second best offensive season of his career.

Hainsey was drafted 13th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2000. He played 935 games in the NHL with the Canadiens, the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Atlanta Trashers, the Winnipeg Jets, the Carolina Hurricanes, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Leafs, registering 265 points. He added 8 points in 25 playoff games. Last spring, Hainsey helped the Penguins to win the Stanley Cup. It was the first time of his career that Hainsey was playing playoff hockey.

He joined the Maple Leafs as a free agent last summer, signing a two-year contract for a total amount of $6M.
