Report: Sabres’ Bogosian requests a trade

This just in courtesy of NHL insider Darren Dreger of TSN, Buffalo Sabres defenseman Zach Bogosian has reportedly requested a trade.

Check it out:

The 29 year old Bogosian has played just 10 games for the Sabres this season, missing the first 22 games as he recovered from hip surgery. He has appeared in just 213 games over the past four seasons due mostly to injury.

He will reportedly be a healthy scratch for tonight’s game against the visiting Nashville Predators.

The former 3rd overall pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft has 52 career goals and 192 career points in 627 career games split between the Sabres, the Winnipeg Jets and the Atlanta Thrashers.

Bogosian is in the final year of a seven year deal that pays him just north of $5 million annually. While his salary may prevent teams from taking him on, he has no term left on his deal and the Sabres are in a position to retain salary in order to facilitate a trade. So… any takers?
