Report: Sakic has hindered the Duchene trade!

The Matt Duchene's saga has lasted long enough, wouldn't you say? The Nashville Predators, the Columbus Blue Jackets - and to some extent, the Montreal Canadiens and the Carolina Hurricanes have shown interest, but Colorado Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic's steep price remains the same. 

This could explain why it has lasted all summer long, and more, but TSN insider Darren Dreger has revealed on Tuesday morning another reason why the whole thing keeps stalling. 

"The frustration from some general managers who have been active in the ongoing back and forth is Sakic will accept the offer in terms of, ‘Okay, I understand what you’re willing to do here,’ and then say, ‘Give me a week, give me a couple of days’ or whatever it is, and then he doesn’t get back to them. At least that was the case in the off-season. You have to believe that it’s changing now and he’s approaching this with more urgency," Dreger explained on TSN 690.

This can only hinder the process if Sakic is not getting back to teams who are interested in making a deal on Duchene. The GM could now only be making it more difficult to become trading partners with other clubs.

"Alright. Let’s deal with this. Because it’s not just about Matt Duchene here. This is about the team, the dressing room, and distracting us from our focus,’ which has to be on a better start than what they had last year," Dreger added. 

“So I think that there are a number of things in play here.”
