Report: Shawn Horcoff joins the Detroit Red Wings!

We have to admit this one caught us completely by surprise.

Retired National Hockey League center Shawn Horcoff has reportedly joined the Detroit Red Wings organization and will be beginning the next phase of his hockey career with their front office. 

It's a surprise mainly because Horcoff never played for the Red Wings having been drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in 1998 and spending the majority of his career with them before brief stints in Dallas and Anaheim.

There has not been an official announcement in this regard but Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman is reporting that Horcoff has joined the team in some form of player development role.
