Wayne Simmonds was one of the most sought after players in the NHL ahead of Monday’s 3pm ET trade deadline, but if it were up to him, he’d never have left Philadelphia in the first place.

The former Flyers forward was, of course, shipped to the Nashville Predators just minutes before the deadline in exchange for Ryan Hartman and a fourth round pick.

Simmonds is slated to hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason and is looking to finally cash in after being one of the most underrated and underpaid forwards in the NHL for his entire career. There will no doubt be many teams interested in signing Simmonds, but according to a report from Flyers insider Sam Carchidi, the 30 year old power forward hasn’t ruled out a return to Philly.

Check it out:

Suffice it to say that, for the right price, Flyers fans would welcome back Simmer with open arms. He’s been a model Flyer the past eight seasons and is exactly the type of player that comes to mind when you think of “Flyers Hockey”. Now, of course, there will be competition for Simmonds… money talks, after all… but you have to imagine that the Flyers have the inside track.
