There was some particularly bad news for fans of one NHL franchise on Tuesday's segment of TSN's Insider Trading. According to Bob McKenzie there is now for the first time some real concern that the Minnesota Wild's Devan Dubnyk may take off to anoth
"Well Devan Dubnyk negotiations have been going on for a week or two now and there's no deal in place."Not only have the two parties not come to terms on a deal, but it appears Dubnyk may believe he's worth more than the Wild are capable of paying him given their cap constraints. To make matters worse the Wild are suffering from the fact that they can't buyout one of their more disappointing goaltenders.
"It's going to be difficult, the Minnesota Wild are a cap strapped team right now, and they want to buy out their veteran goaltender Niklas Backstrom but he's got elbow surgery coming up," added McKenzie.Players who are injured are not eligible to be bought out of their existing contracts, putting the Wild in an extremely difficult situation, one which other teams may attempt to take advantage of.
"He's unrestricted in the summer, a team like the San Jose Sharks for example would be looking for goaltenders and instead of trading for one maybe they could sign one as a free agemt."And according to McKenzie it's not just the Sharks who smell blood in the water.
"A lot of people are watching to see how these negotiations unfold."
