Andrew Desjardins has been long off the ice since he sustained a lower body injury during a preseason match versus the Nashville Predators.
Desjardins was placed on IR after blocking a shot and it was announced that he would need to recover for about 4-6 weeks.
The star forward has been able to hit the ice recently but is still not ready to join his team for tonight's match-up versus the Calgary Flames.
It was announced that Desjardins is most likely going to be able to play this Sunday versus the Dallas Stars. This would be the official debut of the 2016-2017 NHL regular season for Desjardins. His presence was missed and much needed especially when the Blackhawks faced issues on the PK.
Until this weekend cheer on the Blackhawks as they face off against the Calgary Flames tonight at the United Center at 8:30 p.m. (ET).
