Head coaches around the NHL have spoken out recently about the topic of injuries ever since Dallas Stars head coach Ken Hitchcock spoke out about the matter.

“Our feeling is just, tell them what the injury is and move it forward and let's stop the dance,” Hitchcock had said.

This was primarily in reference to upper body injuries, which are often masked due to the fact that they are often concussions. Hitchcock, aware of that fact, figures why hide it when everyone pretty much knows what it is anyways.

Furthermore, with the league severely cracking down on head shots, they are much less frequent than they used to be - players are much less likely to target the head intentionally, considering the fact that a suspension will almost certainly follow the malicious hit.

That being said, some coaches, like Sullivan, prefer to hide all injuries, and designate them in only one of two ways - upper, or lower-body injury.

“I think our philosophy is similar to most of the teams in the league,” Sullivan said, as reported by TribLIVE's Jonathan Bombulie. “The intent is to protect our players. I think the most important takeaway, what we do report, is whether a player is injured or he's not injured. The specifics of it, really, are irrelevant. It's more about whether a player can play or he can't play. We report that fairly, and we report that almost daily.”

Do you agree with Sullivan's stance on the controversial topic - or would you rather know exactly what's plaguing your favorite players?
