The UFA market can be pretty brutal at times and some decent players can get ignored, while others will be claimed right off the shelve in a minute. A lot can be said about expected salaries, negotiated conditions and overall attractiveness of a player, but numbers rarely lie.

Today, the Hockey News revealed their top 10 production leaders still left on the UFA market and it's pretty surprising.

Granted, there aren't too many youngsters left on that list. However, Jaromir Jagr, Mike FIsher and Thomas Vanek still had a more than decent production last year and are still looking for contracts. Fisher is still uncertain about his future and it may explain his hesitation, but both Vanek and Jagr are willing to push forward.

For comparison, Patrick Marleau produced 46 points last year and was one of the most coveted UFA on the market. He grabbed an amazing 3 years, 18.75M$ deal with the Leafs and confessed about receiving a lot of calls. He obviously is much younger than Jagr, but numbers don't lie.

We find Andrei Markov on the list too, who had a lukewarm 36 points season last year but faced a lot of personal issues. Everything seems back in order and he could add to any team, yet he's still looking for a contract. Rumors have him asking close to 6M$ a year and negotiations with the Canadiens are a bit stuck. However, he could bring a lot of experience and skills to any aspiring team and should be considered closely.

In the end, why no one called Jagr yet? He's talking about joining the KHL for a lack of interest in the NHL, but he still has a lot to offer through a limited contract. He might be 44 years old, but he's come some hockey left in the tank!
