Report: Team gets the first round pick they traded back on waivers for free.

Well this is certainly looking like a one-sided trade right now.

There can be little doubt that at the end of the day the Anaheim Ducks won this trade.

Back in 2015 the Ducks made the decision to acquire forward Carl Hagelin from the New York Rangers and in exchnage they gave up one of their former first round draft picks in the form of Emerson Etem, but that was only temporary.

After spending some time with both the Rangers as well as the Vancouver Canucks Etem was placed on waivers this week by Vancouver, only to be claimed by the team that dealt him away for the low cost of nothing at all.

While Hagelin is obviously now a member of the Penguins, the Ducks did flip him to that team in exchange for both David Perron and Adam Clendening who were role players on their roster before being let go through free agency.

At the end of it all the Ducks ended up with three serviceable players on their roster, albeit for limited time, and still come out with the player they originally traded away.
