Report: Team may be forced to trade one of their young forwards for help on defense.

One insider appears to believe a trade from the team he covers is likely this season.

During a recent question and answer session for Mlive.com Red Wings insider Ansar Khan was asked the following question:

What do you think are the chances of (Tomas) Jurco, (Teemu) Pulkkinen, Tatar and Nyquist coming back?

Khan's answered the question and then added a little something extra, hinting at a possible trade from Detroit this season, one that would see them trading one of their young forwards for much needed help on the blue line.

They're all coming back. The question is whether any of them will be traded during the season in a package for a top-three defenseman.

It won't be an easy pill to swallow if the Red Wings do make a trade as Khan believes both Jurco and Pulkkinen have very little trade value. Furthermore Khan questions how much value Nyquist has considering his drop in production last season, leaving Tomas Tatar as the most likely candidate for a trade to acquire a quality defenseman. Khan acknowledges that giving up Tatar would not be an easy decision.

Tatar would seem to be the best trading chip among that group, but they'd also be sacrificing a good chunk of offense if they dealt him.

Khan is one of the most knowledgeable sources of inside information when it comes to the Wings, so this will be a move to keep your eyes peeled for.
