Report: the Avalanche could lose another star player if they can’t trade Duchene!
Keystone Press

We’re a little more than a month away from the opening of the 2017-18 season, and already players are caught up in the rumor mill, sitting ready on the trade block.

Matt Larkin of The Hockey News has revealed the names of 10 trade candidates for the upcoming campaign, and though some have been mentioned throughout the summer, others are just getting started to get dizzy in the mill!

And you've guessed it, Avs fans!

Matt Duchene has heard his name more than once next to the word trade. The Hockey News once again wrote his name as one of the players who risks getting moved this season, but added his teammate Gabriel Landeskog.  He has also heard his name in the rumor mill, and the two of them need to be mentioned together.

Though the Colorado Avalanche is in no rush to move Landeskog, if general manager Joe Sakic cannot move Duchene, he may have to use Landeskog instead.

"There isn’t necessarily a rush to move Landeskog, who is signed through 2020-21, but if Sakic can’t strike a Duchene deal, it will cost Colorado dearly," Larkin writes.

The clock is ticking, Joe…

The Hockey News also mentioned Evander Kane (Buffalo Sabres), Sami Vatanen (Anaheim Ducks), Dante Fabbro (Nashville Predators) and Erik Gudbranson (Vancouver Canucks) in his top 10.
