Report: The worst is confirmed for Bruins captain Chara
Zuma Press

The injury ravaged Boston Bruins defense corps took another hit last night and it was potentially the biggest hit the team can suffer. Captain Zdeno Chara collided with Colorado Avalanche and former Bruins forward Carl Soderberg in the second period and did not return. Chara appeared to buckle his left knee when making contact with Soderberg and… well let’s just say it’s not a pretty sight.

Ouch… that hurts just to LOOK at.

The Bruins announced this afternoon that Chara has returned back to Boston and will be out of the team’s lineup indefinitely.

If Chara misses any significant length of time he’ll join fellow B’s blue liners Kevan Miller, Charlie McAvoy, Urho Vaakanainen and Brandon Carlo on the injured reserve. In effect, the Bruins are missing their top three right sided defensemen… and their top pairing altogether. With all due respect to Matt Gryzlecyk, he’s NOT a top pairing defenseman in the NHL.
