Report: Three NHL teams, including Leafs, in bidding war for Russian Ilya Mikheyev

According to multiple online reports, KHL sniper Ilya Mikheyev is set to sign with an NHL club as early as this weekend.

KHL insider Igor Eronko of Eurosport and NHL.com/ru reports that the 24 year old Mikheyev has narrowed his list of teams down to just three: the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks and Vegas Golden Knights.

The 6 foot, 2 inch, 190 pound winger put up 23 goals and 45 points in 62 games with Omsk Avangard this pas season, with a further 11 points in 13 Gagarin Cup playoff games. DobberProspects.com describes Mikheyev as a “skilled winger with middle-six upside. Capable of both making plays and finishing them. Good skater, good hockey sense, good size. Capable penalty-killer as well.”
