Calm down, Buffalo Sabres fans. Alex Nylander isn’t on team Sweden’s World Juniors Selection Camp roster not due to a lack of skill or talent, it’s because he was never meant to be playing junior hockey in 2017-18 in the first place. At least, that’s according to a report from WGR Sports Radio 550 producer Mike Jafari.

In his latest article for the radio station, Jafari reports that it’s expected Nylander will stick with the Sabres through training camp and join the team as a full-time member in 2017-18. The 2016 first round draft pick and brother of Toronto Maple Leafs star William Nylander tore up the World Junior Championships last season with five goals and 12 points.

When asked if Nylander will be on Sweden at this year’s tournament, Swedish head coach Tomas Monten said, "I don't think so. Of course if Buffalo wants him to play, we're going to keep our door open. He for sure has a spot on our team but I think he's going to make Buffalo this year. That's why I didn't bring him. We haven't talked in the summer.”

Sabres camp opens September 22nd, keep a close eye on this kid to see what his future holds.
