Report: Veteran defenseman needs to accept demotion from Habs
KeyStone Press

According to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports, Montreal Canadiens fans should not be surprised to see veteran defenseman Eric Gélinas accept a contract with the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League.

Gélinas is still hoping to one day crack the Habs roster, and this might be his only chance to do so.

The blue liner is not in the projected lineup for the Habs' preseason finale against the Ottawa Senators and it looks like his chances to make the big team are inexistant. Gélinas had accepted a professional tryout agreement with the Canadiens this summer.

The 26-year-old was selected in the second round of the 2009 NHL draft by the New Jersey Devils
