The Minnesota Wild fan base haven't heard a great deal about former first round pick Alex Tuch since he was selected 18th overall in 2014 by the Wild, but the young winger is hopeful this will be the year that changes.

After spending his last two seasons playing hockey for Boston College Tuch signed his entry-level contract with the Wild this offseason, and he's already hopeful that he can crack the National Hockey League roster as early as next season.

“I think I have a good chance,” Tuch said as per the Pioneer Press' Jace Frederick. “I think there are a couple roster spots that are up for grabs right now, and I’m going to be willing to do what it takes to grab one of those spots.”

Tuch brings a rare combination of size and skill to the table, his 6'4 225lbs frame was good for 62 points in 77 games with Boston Coellege, and that will certainly improve his odds of making the Wild's roster this season.

He will be a player to watch closely as the season draws near.
