Report: Zetterberg Surpasses Datsyuk

Despite what has been considered a tumultuous season by many Detroit Red Wings fans, there are certainly a few bright spots thus far in the "Farewell Season at the Joe." For instance, Anthony Mantha is finally getting the chance most believed he deserves to showcase his skills and his belonging in the NHL, while goaltender Jimmy Howard was leading the way until an unfortunate injury placed him on the injured reserve. 

It also appears that captain Henrik Zetterberg's had a drink from the fountain of youth, as the 36-year-old has had a tremendous start to his season with six goals and 19 points in 26 games. Not too shabby for someone who had injured himself during the World Cup of Hockey training for Team Sweden... 

Three of his goals came in the last three games, and after scoring on Sunday evening against the New York Islanders, Zetterberg has now passed his long-time buddy and teammate Pavel Datsuk on the all-time goal-scoring list with his 315th career goal. 

As it stands, Zetterberg could very well top the 63 more career points that Datsyuk had by the halfway mark of next season, if all goes well. Strangely, it took Zetterberg fewer games to beat his old friend's record...
