With training camp and the World Cup of Hockey approximately one month away, many restricted free agents remain without a contract.
Zemgus Girgensons, Jacob Trouba, Dmitry Orlov, Nikita Kucherov, Cody Ceci, and Johnny Gaudreau are just a few names of impact players that are either negotiating with their respective clubs or have altogether put a hold on discussions, according to The Score.
Last week, Gaudreau’s teammate Sean Monahan signed a seven-year contract with the Calgary Flames, ending any speculation surrounding the 21-year-old’s possible destinations around the NHL. Monahan had a good season last year, posting 27 goals and 63 points. How this deal will affect Gaudreau’s negotiations is anybody’s guess, considering he had 30 goals and 78 points.
