The Calgary Flames have demoted forward Tobias Rieder to AHL Stockton Heat on Tuesday, per TSN’s team insider Jermaine Franklin

They have also proceeded to the call-up of forward Zac Rinaldo in the process.

It seems like Rieder has played his way off the Flames’ roster, he who generated just one point through 17 games.

Last month, he was placed on waivers by Calgary, but did not tempt any other team in the league to claim him. Rieder signed with the team in the off-season after posting 11 assists in 67 games with the Edmonton Oilers last season.

As for Rinaldo, he signed a contract with the Flames back on Sept. 29 and has taken part in 14 games for the Heat registering seven assists.

Rieder will need to impress in the AHL if he wants to impress the Flames and earn a call-up.
