Riley Nash mans up

The Boston Bruins are down 2-1 in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.  During overtime in last night’s game at TD Garden, Riley Nash was given a penalty for roughing on Bobby Ryan.  It was during this penalty that Ryan would score and win the game.

Nash has accepted accountability on the matter, and claims that it was selfish of him to rough during such an intense and important game.  In going forward, he will definitely have to control his emotions.  Nonetheless this is almost out of character for Nash as he only has 14 penalty minutes in 81 games played during the regular season.

Head Coach, Cassidy did not agree with the penalty call as there were multiple other calls that could have possibly been called and were not.  However, he also acknowledged that once the refs call it, there’s nothing more to do then kill the penalty, and they did not do their job.

In such a physical series, it is hard to not get caught up in a few controversial plays but the Bruins will have to show extreme discipline on Wednesdaynight to bounce back to tie the series.  It is crucial that they not go back to Ottawa with the series at 3-1.
