Robin Lehner goes above and beyond for young fan who was born with “literally half a heart”

A young New York Islanders fan named Jack is going viral today after his mother shared his message for Isles goalie Robin Lehner with the entire world on social media.

Jack, who has endured three open heart surgeries in his short life, is a huge hockey fan and has beat the odds by becoming a hockey player himself, something doctors said he’d never be able to do.

In his message to Lehner, Jack shows off his “checklist”:

  1. Survive three open heart surgeries. Check.
  2. Defy the odds to play ice hockey. Check.
  3. Receive a stick from Robin Lehner. Soon to be check.
