Big decisions incoming.

Last year was more or less a deception in Philadelphia. After some nice flashes late in the season, the team simply fell short and did not qualify for the Playoff. Many asked for heads to roll, especially in the goalie department, and GM Hextall seems to agree.

Steve Mason is still expected to be first goalie in Philly, but rumors had him or Neuvirth moving somewhere else in the league. It's hard to really understand what's going on, but at least we know two things for sure.

First, Anthony Stolarz will be ready for next season but is still too green for Hextall to consider him a valid backup. He still has hockey to play in the minors.

Second, Neuvirth is not the hottest commodity in Philadelphia, with his injury history coming on the line. Hextall might be tempted on signing someone else comes July 1st and Neuvirth will need to find a new contract. His UFA status makes him free as a bird in a couple of weeks.

Tricky decisions on Ron Hextall's desk these days.
