Rookie calls out NHL officiating in the playoffs.

Big comments from the rookie.

There will likely be mixed feelings about these comments from National Hockey League rookie Charlie McAvoy but credit to the young man for speaking his mind.

There was outrage in Boston and across the NHL last night when an overtime penalty was called on Boston's Rielly Nash for slashing, not because of the penalty itself, but rather as a result of of the non-call that came seconds before.

Nash's slash was retaliation for what was a blatant elbow to the head of Nash courtesy of Bobby Ryan, but the officials didn't call the elbow and that prompted fiery reactions from even neutral observers like Pierre McGuire.

The Bruins rookie was not thrilled after the game and while he made that clear, he was also tactful enough that he will likely avoid any discipline from the NHL as a result of his comments.

"You look at some of those calls and you wonder...you just kind of wonder, really."

Indeed.
