Danton Heinen’s been a star during the preseason, proving to the staff that he deserves a spot on the official roster. Now, four games in (he’s been scratched for two games), and he has yet to score a single point, and only managed two shots on net.

The rookie is taking his time in the press box like a true veteran, watching and studying what the game looks like. “You never want to be up in the press box, but it gives you a different perspective on the game. It’s a different angle. From up there it looks like you’ve got way more time,” he said. “I definitely think I can be more patient with the puck, and make some smarter plays,” he added, talking about his performance when entering the offensive zone.

When asked about what it was like playing with his linemate David Krejci, he said that he “likes to play with the puck a lot, so you just get him the puck, go in hard on the forecheck and try to get open because he’s a good distributor.”

Let’s hope we start seeing some offensive firepower from him soon, as we saw during the preseason.
