Some giant expectations were placed on the shoulders of 18 year old defensemen Rasmus Dahlin the moment he was chosen first overall by the Buffalo Sabres at this past June’s 2018 NHL Entry Draft. And now, just a month and a half into his NHL career, Dahlin isn’t disappointing ANYONE with his play.

The big Swede has two goals and 10 points in his first 20 NHL games and has been a HUGE part in the team’s turnaround this season. The team hasn’t been to the playoffs since the 2010-11 season, but with a fresh new squad featuring Dahlin, Jack Eichel and other new additions like Jeff Skinner and Conor Sheary, the team FINALLY looks to be back on the upswing and the playoffs are not out of the question for the first time in a long time in Buffalo.

The thing with Dahlin is… he’s a triple threat. Not only can he burn you offensively, but he’s a defensive wizard, as well. Throw in a healthy dose of physicality and the teenage prodigy is the definition of a complete hockey player. Need more proof? Check out this hit he laid on Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel in the first period of tonight’s game between the two teams:

KABOOM! Thanks for coming out, Jake… but you can take a seat for awhile.
