Rumblings of a strange trade coming out of Detroit.

Ask most fans in Detroit and what they will tell you their team needs is elite defense to back up the stellar play of goaltender Petr Mrazek as opposed to more offense.

That's why the rumblings out of Detroit today are awfully confusing to us, because the word is the Red Wings are currently eyeing big physical winger Andrew Ladd. Despite being the the Winnipeg Jets captain multiple reports surfaced yesterday that contract negotiations had fallen apart between Ladd and the Jets, and a trade now seemed the more likely result, so he is available.

The problem is he doesn't really seem to solve any of Detroit's current problems, and furthermore they would have to give up assets in order to acquire what could end up being a rental player. One Red Wings blogger didn't pull any punches when it comes ot his opinion on this latest rumor.
