There has long been a contentious relationship between John Tortorella and one of his top forwards, former Stanley Cup Champion Brandon Saad, but until now no one believe the Blue Jackets would ever be willing to trade him away.

In a recent 30 thoughts article Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman hinted at possible upcoming developments for the Blue Jackets, specifically when it comes to Saad:

Speaking of forwards, very curious to see where things go with Columbus and Brandon Saad. He’s fifth on the Blue Jackets in scoring, fifth in time-on-ice among forwards. But he was almost a healthy scratch last week and, somewhere, the team wants to ease its cap crunch. Chicago investigated it last season, but couldn’t make things work. He’s 24 years old and has a lot to give.

Saad was nothing short of a superstar for the Blackhawks both in the regular season and the playoffs, so it's interesting to hear that the Blackhawks have considered bringing him back. No word from Friedman on what teams might be investigating this deal, but we'll keep our eyes peeled.
