We have a very interesting bit of news to report, although at this time it remains an unconfirmed rumor.

During the NBC broadcast of tonight's game between the Boston Bruins and the Detroit Red Wings, TSN insider Darren Dreger stated that he believes Bruins veteran Matt Beleskey will be headed to the waiver wire in the coming weeks.

According to Dreger the move is not designed to be a precursor to the Bruins buying out Beleskey of his contract, a five-year deal worth $19 million but it will be a means to send him down to the American Hockey League to play with the Providence Bruins.

The last time Beleskey was sent down to the AHL he was a memeber of the Anaheim Ducks and it seems safe to say that he won't be happy about this demotion from the Bruins at this stage of his National Hockey League career. That being said with no goals and no assists for no points in his 14 games played this season, and a plus minus rating of -8, he doesn't have much room to complain.

Beleskey carries an average annual value of 3.8 million and has 2 more season on his deal after this one. Given both his performance and those financial numbers it seems there is a low probability of a rival team picking him up when he is in fact placed on waivers.
