Rumor: ANOTHER highly touted Russian set to join Vegas?

The old saying goes, “where there’s smoke, there’s fire”, and that certainly seems to be the case with the Vegas Golden Knights and KHL superstar Evgeni Dadonov.

When St Petersburg teammate Vadim Shipachyov signed with the Knights earlier this month, many hockey analysts suspected that Dadonov would follow his linemate to the NHL and join the expansion club. While that has yet to happen, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has indicated that most NHL general managers feel it’s a foregone conclusion. Don’t count out the KHL however, as Friedman believes that the 27 year-old Dadonov will still have to field lucrative offers from other teams in Russia.

Wherever Dadonov ends up next season, the team that lands him will acquire a highly talented offensive player who is equally adept at setting up plays as he is at finishing them. In 53 games with league champion SKA St. Petersburgh in 2016-17, Dadonov produced 30 goals and 36 assists for an astounding 66 points. His linemates? The aforementioned Shipachyov and former NHL superstar Ilya Kovalchuk. Might all three be looking for a reunion in Vegas?

If Shipachyov was the first domino to fall, is Dadonov the next in the sequence?
