The latest rumblings surrounding forward Andreas Athanasiou have been more troubling for the Detroit Red Wings fans.

Rumors recently surfaced that the 23-year-old has received a significant offer from the Kontinental Hockey League as three teams were supposedly interested in landing him.

Now according to Russian reporter Aivis Kalnins, another KHL has jumped on board in the Athanasiou sweepstakes. The club Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg is now looking to sign the forward.

Athanasiou is a restricted free agent without arbitration rights, and he could be using the KHL offer as leverage in his negotiations with the Red Wings. But he now notices that several teams are hoping to get him.

Athanasiou was selected by the Wings in the fourth round of the 2012 NHL draft. Since then, he recorded 27 goals and added 16 assists for 43 points in 101 games.
