Rumor: Are the Oilers and Panthers getting ready for a war?

The last match up between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers was notable for the extreme physical nature of the game. One incident of course stood above all the rest, the injury to Panthers franchise player Aaron Ekblad.

It seems like the Panthers may be out for revenge on Monday night, according to a report from Derek Van Diest of the Edmonton Journal the Panthers have called up some of their heavy hitters for their upcoming match up, and the Oilers have responded in kind.

Panthers scrapper Shawn Thornton will draw in after being a healthy scratch in Edmonton. The Oilers will counter with Luke Gazdic, who also missed the first encounter. It’s the first time Gazdic and Zack Kassian will be in the lineup together for the Oilers.

Coincidently Matt Hendricks will be back after having served his suspension for the hit that resulted in the injury to Ekblad, you should expect fireworks tonight.
