Rumor: 'Bad blood' from previous negotiation may be hurting Pastrnak contract talks.

Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney may have a tougher job than any of us originally expected when it comes to the contract negotiations with star forward David Pastrnak.

Bruins reporter Jimmy Murphy is now reporting that "most of the chatter" he is hearing around the contract negotiations for Pastrnak point to the fact that there may be lingering bad blood between Bruins management and Pastrnak's agent JP Barry.

You see Barry previously represented another young Bruins star in defenseman Dougie Hamilton and, as fans in Boston will know, those negotiations ended with Hamilton being moved to the Calgary Flames as part of a huge trade.

The Bruins front office today looks much the same as it did during the Hamilton trade, and if Murphy is right about there being bad blood between the parties involved this could explain the failure to work out a deal.

Murphy does not know exactly where the bad blood is coming from, but he did speculate on the matter. According to Murphy both Cam Neely and Jeremy Jacobs have "long memories" and he believes JP Barry may also have a long memory.
