Another day, another Montreal Canadiens trade rumor. This time it’s apparently team captain Max Pacioretty on his way out of La Belle Province. According to HockeyBuzz.com NHL insider Eklund, the Habs are talking trade with the Philadelphia Flyers and would pay a hefty price to acquire the 28-year-old Pacioretty.

Check it out:

Now, one thing to consider: Eklund is a very dubious source. The anonymous insider has refused to reveal his identity or his sources over his career, so any rumors from him must be taken with a grain of salt. Regardless, it’s a compelling rumor.

The Flyers have big plans for Sanheim on their blue line, but Pacioretty would undoubtedly help them up front for years to come. Meanwhile, the Habs are thin on blue line prospects since parting ways with Mikhail Sergachev in the Jonathan Drouin trade. Still, the trade seems to make little sense in the immediate future for both sides.
