The Boston Bruins appear to be interested in feeling the void in the roster that was created by the departure of Dougie Hamilton. There is now a belief that the Bruins' are targeting to young defenseman in particular, one of whom is a free agent, while the other would require a trade. The first is Stanley Cup Champion Johnny Oduya of the Chicago Blackhawks, who as an unrestricted free agent, seems like the most likely possibility for Boston. While it's clear the Blackhawks want to keep Oduya as of this moment they are already over the cap, so unless they can deal players like Patrick Sharp and Bryan Bickell that may be an impossibility. The second and less likely scenario, although it's certainly one Bruins fans would be salivating over, is the possibility of acquiring Kevin Shattenkirk through a trade. It's been rumored that the Blues are considering dealing Shattenkirk although what they expect in return is still unclear. Boston recently acquired a wealth of draft picks in the Dougie Hamilton trade, and they also got a 1st rounder from San Jose when they dealt Martin Jones, so if it's prospects and draft picks Boston could be a real player in this deal. However if the Blues are looking for a player that can put them over the top as Cup contenders the deal may become more difficult to make a reality for the Bruins.
