Rumor: Bruins will not offer Pastrnak a max-year deal.
Keystone Press

The Boston Bruins have been embroiled in some nasty rumors involving forward David Pastrnak over the past several days and now one of the reporters close to the team has what could be viewed as more bad news.

While general manager Don Sweeney has made it quite clear that he does not intend to trade Pastrnak, Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe believes that the team is not prepared to offer him a deal with max term.

On Wednesday night Dupont stated that he believes the best offer the Bruins will make will be a $42 million dollar contract over a term of six years, an average annual value of $7 million per season.

That's a solid salary offer to be sure, but Pastrnak may be looking for max term after putting up 70 points in a single season, and that could very well be what has caused the negotiations to take this long, although that is purely speculation.
