The Montreal Canadiens may be struggling with offense, but at least young defenseman Victor Mete is developing quickly alongside veteran Shea Weber.

With his success and rapid progress, Grant McKagg of Recrutes.ca wonders if the Habs might be willing to part with Noah Juulsen in a blockbuster trade for John Tavares.

Juuslen is one of the most promising prospect in the Canadiens' arsenal since they selected  him 26th overall in the 2015 NHL draft. However, the need for Julien in the future might be overshadowed by the urgent need for a bonafide number one center for the Habs to truly contend for the Stanley Cup.

Larry Brooks of the New York Post recently reported that the Canadiens are amongst the team keeping an eye on Tavares, who has yet to agree to a contract extension with the New York Islanders

The Isles might make a move with Tavares to prevent losing him to nothing as the free agency nears. Tavares is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer, and will be the most coveted one without a doubt.

So, Habs fans, what do you think? Should GM Marc Bergevin pull the trigger on this deal?
