When former Vancouver Canucks head coach Willie Desjardins was relieved of his duties at the conclusion of the 2016-17 season, assistant coaches Doug Lidster and Perry Pearn were also among the purge. Interestingly, Doug Jarvis remained with the team and will join new head coach Travis Green behind the bench in 2017-18. Who else might join Green’s staff though has been a mystery. But NHL insider Elliotte Friedman released a juicy rumor on social media this morning that may shed some light on the Canucks’ next hiring:

Brown, of course, has a long history with the Canucks. First, as a player having been selected in the 8th round of 1982 NHL Entry Draft by the team, then second as an assistant coach under Alain Vigneault from 2010-2013. Since then Brown has spent four seasons as an assistant coach in Phoenix with the Arizona Coyotes under Dave Tippett.

Might a return to the Canucks be in the fold? If so, Canucks fans certainly hope that Brown can return the team to the level it reached during his first stint behind the bench.
