Rumors are running wild these days concerning high quality UFAs available to be signed quickly. The UFA market is always a bit wild, but this year is different with the new Vegas franchise in the mix. George McPhee has a lot of cards up his sleeve and it makes the job tougher for other GMs.

However, new rumors abound concerning the Canucks willingness to hire a new defenseman. According to Elliotte Friedman, reputable analyst and insider, the Canucks are after Jason Demers. The 6'1'', 200lbs Quebecer has been in the league since 2009 and recorded 171 points in 504 games. Although not the most offensive oriented defenseman around, he's reliable and good and shutting down plays.

He's signed a 5 years, 22.5M$ contract with the Panthers last year and rumors have him moving soon. He would fit in the Canucks system just fine, but it's still surprising to hear rumors about yet another veteran player moving to Vancouver. GM Benning was pretty vocal about his intention of rebuilding the team on young players and Demers is 29 years old already.

Will the move happen on Sunday?
