Rumor: Dallas Stars go way too far in attempt to punish rival fans.

this has gone way too far.

We have a rather disturbing report emerging from Saturday's games in the National Hockey League.

We had a number of games on the schedule Saturday including a match up between the Nashville Predators and the Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center but one of the big stories coming out of that contest has very little to do with the game itself. As you would expect at any National Hockey League game, or at any sporting event really, fans from both teams showed up to support the Stars and Predators on Saturday but one Predators fan brought along an extra special surprise with him.

As has become one of the most infamous, and one of the most disgusting, traditions in the entire National Hockey League one particularly die hard Predators fan managed to sneak a catfish into the game and hurl the dead sea creature out onto the ice at the American Airlines Center. Needless to say the fans of the Stars in attendance were none too pleased with the incident but apparently neither were the Dallas Stars or at the very least the personnel at the American Airlines Center at that time.

The fan in question was reportedly accosted by law enforcement at the game and although a fine or perhaps even a ban from the arena could be considered a reasonable punishment, I personally think neither is appropriate, what actually happened is rather disgusting. One twitter user named A.J. Gross, who may or may not have been involved, was at the game because he photographed the law enforcement officials speaking with the fans who threw the fish, and according to Gross those fans were threatened with arrest and even potential jail time for their actions. Now I must label this a rumor as this has not yet been confirmed by a credible media outlet however Nashville Predators' beat writer Adam Vingan did retweet the photographic evidence which leads me to believe that there is some measure of credibility to this story.

I love the passion of the fans who pull these type of stunts and I firmly believe that they are the kind of things that harmlessly promote rivalries between opposing sport franchises in North America. To threaten someone with jail time for an incident like this, especially someone who looks rather young judging by the photo, seems deeply out of touch to me.
