Rumor: First round pick will not join his NHL team.

It sounds like one of the top picks in the 2016 National Hockey League draft doesn't plan on coming to the NHL just yet.

Andy Strickland of Fox Sports is now reporting that Florida Panthers first round draft choice Henrik Borgstrom will not be coming to the NHL next season, and instead has opted to remain in college for at least one more year.Strickland's source for this report appears to be a rather solid one as well, Strickland's current head coach at the University of Denver, Jim Montgomery.

Borgstrom showed promise at training camp prior to this season with the Panthers, but there have been questions about his size coming into the NHL and one has to wonder if this may have played a role in his decision to remain in school.

While this is certainly disappointing news for the Panthers, it's pretty cool to see a 19-year-old kid so focused on securing his long-term future.
