It’s no secret that Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin is interested on someone from the New York Islanders’ roster. The Habs boss has been noticed scouting the Isles at four games this season, leading to speculation that the two teams could come together on a deal. The most obvious target is John Tavares, but he’ll come with a high price tag. Instead, might the Habs be looking for help on the blue line?

According to a report from Sportsnet analyst and NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Canadiens have their sights set on defenseman Ryan Pulock and would be willing to offer up underperforming forward Alex Galchenyuk

While it’s not the blockbuster move that fans have been hoping for, it’s still a big deal that would seriously shift the power balance in the NHL’s Eastern Conference. Assuming it’s a one-for-one deal, who gets the better end of it? Both players are just 23-years-old and have oodles of potential. It could make for an interesting swap.
